MULLAPERIYAR ISSUE-
MORE POLICE FORCES AT KUMILI
IG R Sreelekha has given direction to deploy more police forces at trouble-prone areas especially Kumili. She was speaking to mediapersons after visiting the troubled areas. Agitators from Tamil Nadu have infiltrated into Kerala citing Mullaperiyar issue. The special police force were deployed as part of the march planned to be held in Kumili by the TN farmers. The TN police too have strengthened vigil on the borders to prevent any untoward incidents. A team of 500 policemen, led by the IG, have been deployed on the border areas, said DGP K Ramanujam. Control rooms were opened at Gudalur and on Kerala border. Vehicles of Sabarimala pilgrims will be guided through safe passages. The road traffic on the Gudalur-Kumili route would be restored to normalcy.
