MULLAPERIYAR ISSUE - KERALITES FORCED TO LEAVE TAMIL NADU

MULLAPERIYAR ISSUE -
KERALITES FORCED TO LEAVE TAMIL NADU
A group of Keralites who were running shops in the Erode and Dindigul districts of Tamil Nadu and were allegedly forced to leave their shops over the Mullaperiyar dam issue reached here by train on Wednesday morning. They met Superintendent of Police (SP) Anup Kuruvila John and lodged a complaint narrating their experiences before they left Tamil Nadu under the threat by some miscreants. The complaint was signed by 15 people.
They said they had been forced to leave their businesses as their shops and properties came under attack. They said they fled fearing reprisals. They showed handbills issued to them by the miscreants asking them to close their shops. Speaking to reporters, some members of the group said that while mainstream political parties such as the AIADMK and the (DMK) were supportive of the Keralites working in these districts, some fringe groups were behind the attacks.
