Noted Malayalam writer M T Vasudevan Nair Friday,23rd December,2011, received Kerala Government's prestigious Ezhuthachan literary award from Chief Minister Ommen Chandy.
The award carries a cash prize of Rs 1.5 lakh and a citation. 77-year old Nair, a prolific and versatile writer who has authored several widely appreciated novels, hundreds of short stories and over 50 film scripts, was chosen for the honour for his outstanding contributions to Malayalam literature and culture. Nair received the country's highest literary prize, Jnanpith, in 1995 for his novel "Randamuzham" (Second turn), an exploration into the pshyche of Mahabhratha character Bhim.
