ACTION AGAINST ILLEGAL ORPHANAGES

ACTION AGAINST ILLEGAL ORPHANAGES
The Orphanage Control Board Monitoring Committee, chaired by district panchayat president Babu George, has decided to strictly enforce the rule that only children with destitution certificate should be permitted to stay at various orphanages in the district.Addressing meeting of the monitoring committee here recently, Mr. George said that though a majority of the orphanages in the district functioned as per the rules and regulations prescribed by the government, as many as 26 orphanages were found to have been functioning illegally. The Police Department had taken steps to close down these, after shifting the children to various recognised centres, he said.
