JUSTICE MANJULA CHELLUR-ACTING CHIEF JUSTICE OF KERALA HIGH COURT
President Pratibha Patil has appointed Manjula Chellur, judge of the Karnataka High Court, as the Acting Chief Justice of the Kerala High Court.She replaces Jasti Chelameswar, who has been elevated as a judge of the Supreme Court. She is the first woman judge from the Karnataka High Court to become an Acting Chief Justice of a High Court and is the first woman Acting Chief Justice of the Kerala High Court. Ms. Chellur, who will complete the age of 56 in December, hails from Karnataka. She joined the Karnataka Judicial Service as a district judge on April 15, 1988. She was appointed an additional judge of the Karnataka High Court on February 21, 2000 and a permanent judge on August 17, 2000. She will have tenure of six years if she continues as the Chief Justice of the High Court.
