VEGETABLES AND FRUITS CUT GENETIC HEART RISK

VEGETABLES AND FRUITS CUT
 GENETIC HEART RISK

Eating plenty of RAW VEGETABLES AND FRUITS can help lower the risk of heart disease in people who are genetically susceptible to it, say a study led by an Indian-origin researcher.

The Canadian study, published in Plos Medicine, found that five or more daily portions could be enough to counteract culprit versions of a gene on chromosome 9, thought to be possessed by a fifth of people of European ancestry. "Our results support the public health recommendation to consume more than five servings of fruits or vegetables as a way to promote good health," researcher Sonia Anand of McMaster University said.
