SURGERY ON A PYTHON AT THE KERALA VETERINARY COLLEGE
An injured python underwent a surgery at the Kerala Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (KVASU) Hospital, Kokkala, on Thursday,6th October,2011.. 2.90-metre-long snake weighing 18 kg was injured when the compound around Ajith Kumar's house at Kattur was being cleaned using a JCB. It's stomach was ripped open.
The police along with the Pets and Wildlife Protection Force and Paravattani Forest officials rushed the snake to the veterinary hospital. M.K. Narayanan, assistant professor of surgery at KVASU Hospital, performed a one-hour-long surgery on the snake. The reptile sustained four major wounds and needed 30 stitches. According to the hospital sources, the snake was out of danger. It was handed over to the forest officials and would be released into the wild later
