Mr. P.G Mathew Kurakar, Founder of the Kurakar Group Establishment passed away at Medical Trust Hospital, Kulanada,Pandalam on Monday 9pm,24th October,2011. He was 93.He had age related ailments,but was active till a few months ago.His wife Thankamma Mathew was died on 1991. He is survived by his eight sons and three daughters.

Sons:- Varghese Kurakar (Ex.Service), Prof. John Kurakar(Former Head of languages in St.Gregorious college), Jacob Kurakar(Accounts Manager Dubai), Thomas Kurakar(Managing Director, Family Inn, Restaurant), Bobby Kurakar(Managing Director of kurakar plaza & united publishers Jose Kurakar(Bank officer, Australia), Sam Kurakar(Director, comrade info systems Dubai & Australia), George Kurakar(computer programmer & Technician Dubai)

Daughters:- Annamma Thomas(Rtd. High School Teacher) Ms. Suma Mathew, Ms. Sheela Abraham(Dubai)

Mr P.G Mathew Kurakar served more than 40 years as the Sunday School Head Master of the Salem St George Orthodox Church. He later served as the as the trustee of the Orthodox church many years, 1975 he was started the Kurakar Tyre Retreading Company and Union Bakery at Kottarakara. He published many Biblical articles in “Kudumba Deepam” and other family journals. The Family members, Friends and residents of the of Aypalloor celebrated his navathy, 90th  birth day celebration on 8th August, 2009

P.G Mathew Kurakar was a sociable person. He loved everyone in Ayppalloor, He helped every needy person in Ayppalloor. He received a Merit award from the Former Catholicose of the East H.H Basalious Marthoma Mathews I for the commendable service, more than 40 years in the Orthdox church Ayppalloor.

H.G Yuhanon Mar Thevodhoras, Bishop of Kottarakara- Punaloor Dioceses said P.G Mathew Kurakar’s death was a big loss for Orthodox church and Kurakaran Kudumba yogam.He had opened up a new paths of peace and love. Kodikunnil Suresh M.P said that P.G Mathew Kurakar's death was a loss not only the family but also to Kottarakara. M.P described that P.G Mathew as a Karmayogi who loved every one in Kottarakara. Advocate Iysha Potti, MLA of Kottarkara said that P.M Mathew was an inspiration to the People of all religions in Ayppalloor and that his death was an irreparable loss to all in Ayppalloor and Kottarakara.

P.G Mathew Kurakarans Body placed at his house on 26th October at 8 am for the near and dear to pay their last respects. There has been a steady flow of mourners. Leaders from all walks of life reached his house” Kurakar” Thousands from all sections of society paid their last respects to P.G Mathew, who touched their life for the development of poor people during his long life..    P.G Mathew Kurakar’s funeral was held at Salem Orthodox Church at 1 pm on 26th October. The body was taken to the Cemetery after the special prayers. The Prayers lead by H.G Yuhanon Mar Thevodhorus, Bishop of Kottarakara- Punaloor Dioceses, Assisted by Very Rev. Samel Remban, Very Rev. Joseph Remban,, Rev. Ninan Cor Episcopa, Rev. Daniel cor Episcopa and other 20 preists. Prominent personalities who participated in the funeral Service include the Members of the Parliament Mr.Kodikunnil Suresh and Member of the Legislative Assembly Advocate Iysha Potti.

   Kurakaran Women's Association paid rich tribute to P.G Mathew Kurakar. A condolence meeting was arranged at Pinaruvila Mr. P.C Rajan Babu's residence on 29th October,2011 at 3 pm. Ms Chinnamma John, President of Women's Association presided over the condolence meeting.  Ayppalloor St. George Salem Orthodox Church -Marthmariam Vanitha Samajam conducted a condolence meeting at P. G. Mathew Kurakar's residence on 30th October,2011 at 3 pm. Rev. Fr Y.S Geevarghese, Vicar presided. More than eighty members participated. The meeting concluded at 4.30 pm. 
URI  Kerala chapter arranged a condolence meeting on 2nd November,2011 at URI Office,Karickom,Kottarakara at 11 am. Prof G.Jacob presided over the condolence meeting. P.G Mathew Kurakar was like the wind That blew about merrily. With his emollient touch. He soothed several hearts.. As the sun shines bright, He spreads fragrance around; A silently blossomed rose Radiating a beauty so rare! A dove without wings, An embodiment of peace, He can turn a bedlam, Into a bouquet of joy. I reminisce our fair lily With his soft hair Placid brown eyes, And ever comforting smile My dear grandpa, Let’s never part. And may your halo Shine bright forever!
