BOMB BLAST IN KANNUR
Two students suffered minor injuries in their legs in a bomb explosion that occurred when they stamped on an icecream ball at Vaidhyarpeedika near Panoor in Kannur district this morning.(Saturday,17th September,2011) According to police, the boys, Sinas (12) and Ajnas (13), were cousins and hailed from Vaidhyarpeedika. They were returning home from Thiruvazhoor Darul Huda Madrassa at Panoor. One of the boys stamped on an icecream-ball, which was lying on the side of the road, when the bomb exploded and caused minor injuries in their legs.
The injured boys were admitted to Panoor Health Centre for medical treatment. They were discharged after providing treatment, hospital sources said.Police said raids would be conducted at nearby areas under Panoor police limits. The police have taken the incident seriously as Chief Minister Oomen Chandy was scheduled to visit Mokeri near Panoor later in the evening to inaugurate a cultural meeting as part of the dedication of a renovated mosque to the public at Mokeri. The renovation work was funded by a Hindu NRI businessman, Padmashri C K Menon, who is providing about Rs one crore.
