ART FESTIVAL
FOR INDUSTRIAL WORKERS

A five-day art festival for workers and employees in the industrial sector in Kerala will be organised here from November 8 to appreciate and promote artists and creative persons in both the public and private sector in Kerala. The initiative for the fest has been taken by the central public sector company HLL Lifecare. The highlight of the festival will be drama competition for art clubs of industrial units, HLL Chairman and Managing Director M Ayyappan told a press meet here today. The best play would be awarded Rs 25,000 as prize money and a memento instituted in memory of M K K Nair, bureaucrat and former CMD of FACT.

While heading FACT, Nair had made significant contribution for the promotion of classical art forms like Kathakali and that was why the award is named after him, he said. A total of 10 plays would be selected from among entries to be staged in the competition section during the festival, eminent playwright and theatre personality Kavalam Narayana Painikkar, who is the jury chairman, said. Competitions would also be held in other items, including light music and group music.
