                     GANESHOTSAV BEGINS ON SEPTEMBER

Hun dreads of Ganesha idols ranging in size from three feet to 30 feet will be installed at different venues across the state on September 1 as part of this years Ganeshotsav. Idols, now under construction, would be immersed in sea on September 10 after religious rituals lasting 10 days. they said the idols in 32 forms and eight manifestations, were being made in 13 locations.
In Thiruvananthapuram, the idols are being made by  a group from Rajastan led by Bola Ram, another Thanjavur based group led by Tanika Jalav, and local sculptors mottamoodu vijayan and Bhoopathi. The finished idols would be handed over to local level committees on August 31 and installed the next day. This years Ganeshotsav would be dedicated to the campaign to preserve the valuables discovered in the underground vaults of the Sree Padmanabha swamy temple. The idols would be taken in procession before being immersed in sea, bringing the festival to a close.
