MAHARASHTRA HOUSE PAID TRIBUTE TO
P.C ALEXANDER
Maharashtra Legislative Assembly Thursday, 10th August, 2011, paid rich tributes to former State Governor P C Alexander who passed away in Chennai Wednesday. The motion of condolence was moved by Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan and supported by Leader of Opposition Eknath Khadse. Speaker Dilip Walse Patil recalled Alexander's contribution to the state in ensuring equitable distribution of development funds to all regions of state in the field of higher education. He said Alexander was the longest serving Governor for a period of nine years from 1993-2002. Chavan said he got to interact with Alexander on development issues of the state as his colleague in the Rajya Sabha since 2002. The members stood in silence for two minutes as a mark of respect for the departed soul.
