THREE JOURNALISTS INJURED IN ATTACK
At least three journalists were injured on Thursday 14th July,2011 When a group of persons attacked a television Camera crew which tried to interview some parents who had arrived at the church of south India's (CSI) head quarters at the LMS compund Thiruvanthapuram to complain against the alleged anomalies in admissions to the management quota of Dr Somerwell Memorial CSI Medical College Hospital at Karakonam in the outskirts of the city.
Those injured were Sarath Krishnan, and Ayappan of Asianet news. The assailants damaged their camera and stole the cassette, which was later returned to the news organization at the behest of the police. The Asia net,later said the contents of the tape were found to be erased.
The Chief Minister Oommen chandy expressed his regret over the police caning of journalists on Thursday. Two police men were being placed under suspension. The Chief Minister promised that the government take strong action based on the investigation.
