MOOLAMATTOM FIRE
The 130 MW generator that got damaged in the Moolamattom power house of the Idukki Hydel project. K.S Prabha,48, a KSEB engineer, who had suffered severe burns in a blast at a generator of Moolamattom power station, died on Wednesday,29th June,2011. Prabha, a native of Injamoola, Thiruvananthapuram, was first admitted to Kolenchery Medical Mission Hospital and then shifted to Ernakulam Medical Center, with more than 60 percent burns and died by 10.30 am.
Two engineers had suffered a serious injuries in the accident that occurred on June 20 evening. Merin Issac, 26 of Thodupuzha, who was injured along with Prabha, died on June 25. She also had more than 60 percent burns.
