MBA student died of
Administrative negligence
(25July, 2011)
SHANKARPALLY: An MBA-student of ICFAI Business School,(IBS) lost his life in an accident on the Shankarpally highway. Students and witnesses claim that due to negligence of medical staff and poor medical attention, he suffered an untimely demise.
Nihit Sinha had a head on collision with a biker, who lost his balance on the Shankarpally highway. He suffered serious head injuries and was losing a great deal of blood. Witnesses of the accident rushed Sinha to the IBS clinic, however, the on duty doctor was missing. They attempted to take him to the nearest hospital, 27 km away, but the ambulance driver was also missing. Students tried to persuade the security at the gate to provide a vehicle; however, they were told they needed permission from the warden.
After much persuasion they convinced another student, Raman to drive Sinha along with a warden and a few students to Olive hospital. In this entire ordeal, Sinha lost valuable time and blood. An official case had not been registered by the police due to the lack of senior management representatives from IBS. After many attempts by the students, the on duty warden was sent to the Shankarpally police station to register the case. The warden was told by the police to wait outside as he was under the influence of alcohol. Students at IBS claim the college management is trying to suppress the event and turn the attention away from their negligence.
