KAMBISSERI KARUNAKARAN

Kambisseri Karunakaran (31 March 1922 – 27 July 1977) was an Indian journalist writing in Malayalam. He was the chief editor of the Janayugam Varika, a Malayalam weekly owned by the Communist Party of India. Besides being a journalist he was a politician, actor, satirist and rationalist.

 Prof. ONV Kurup, the Jnanpith award winner said Kambissery was a multifaceted personality, His death was not only a loss to journalism but to the cultural arena as well. ONV gave away this years Kambissery memorial journalism Award instituted by the Kollam Press club. The editorial” Neethude Pendulam appeared in Madhyamam on August 9,2009 won the award. The award was received by the news papers special correspondent Vayalar Gopakumar. Mr Kambissery was the former editor of Janayugam
