  Kerala State Pollution Control Board is approved e-waste collection centre at Ambalamedu. The center will collect electronic and electrical waste generated across the state. The facility has a 2,000 sq m storage facility for hazardous waste. Mr N.K Pillai,chief executive Officer of Kerala Enviro Infrastructure Ltd, said part of it could be converted in to an e-waste collection center with additional facilities as per the specification. Mr Pillai said the proposal was to collect the e-waste and send it recognized reprocessing centers in the neighboring states, as recycling of e-waste was a costly affair requiring investment running in to crores. these centers will do the recycling, and they may even send it to foreign countries such as Belgium in cases where precious metals are to be extracted from the waste" Mr Pillai said.
  Transportation  of e-waste from the points of generation to the collection center will be responsibility of the operator.'We will purchase fully covered vehicles for the transportation of waste once the proposal is approved Mr Pillai said.
