COMPENSATION FOR STUDENT WHO DIED OF SNAKE BITE

COMPENSATION FOR STUDENT
 WHO DIED OF SNAKE BITE

A division bench of the State Consumers Commission has asked school authorities of Mananthavadi Christ King Convent School to give Rs 4,90,000 as compensation to the family of a 7-year-old student who was bitten by a snake. The division bench, comprising commission members MV Viswanathan and MK Abdullason, has asked the School authorities to pay a compensation to the family of second standard student Sandeep.

Sandeep's father had filed a complaint with the Wayanad district forum pointing out that the apathy shown by the school authorities had led to his son's death. The complaint was accepted there. But pointing that the compensation was meager, he again appealed to the State Consumers Commission. A snake bit Sandeep while he was playing in school. The commission found that though there were school buses, the kid was made to walk a distance of 1 km to reach the doctor's place.
