       75 YEAR OLD LIBRARY RENOVATED IN THIRUVANANTHAPURAM CITY

   75-year old Library,which houses a large collection of  rare books on Indian history,culture,spiritual tradition,temple arts,and mythology,has been renovated and opened for public.
   the Library Founded by Sree Chithera Tirunal Balarama Varma, the King of erstwhile Travancore in 1936, the Sree Chitra Central Hindu Library" at Vanchiyoor has been a hub of historians, ideologists and students of spirituality in the city for decades. Besides rare titles in Malayalam, Tamil, Sanskrit and English. The library has a good collection of palm leaf manuscripts. With the Library building running in to disuse, a large number of books stacked there had been damaged. The TDB( Travancore Devaswom Board drew up a plan to renovate the building and  save the books that had survived the ravages of time. New books worth Rs10 lakh were bought to replenish the Library's stock and attract book lovers to the institution once again.Jnanpith laureate ONV Kurup inaugurated the renovated Library on Friday,16th July,2011.
