Milma awards
Awards instituted by the Ernakulam Regional Cooperative Milk Producers' Union Limited, the regional wing of Milma, were given away at the annual general meeting of the union, held at Aluva on Saturday,18th,June,2011.The awards for best primary milk producers' societies were won by the societies at Maneed in Ernakulam, Puthanchira in Thrissur, Monippally in Kottayam and Nettithozhu in Idukki. The awards for the best dairy farmers were won by Rajiv Mannalil of Vavakkad in Ernakulam, K.R. Chandrasekhar of Avinisserry in Thrissur, A.N. Balakrishnan of Kurichithanam in Kottayam and Josekutty Mathew of Santhigram in Idukki.
The awards for dairy farm owners were won by Anandavally Sudhakar of Karukappilly in Ernakulam, Gopalakrishnan of Pattipparambu in Thrissur, Omana Rejikumar of Ezhumanthuruthu in Kottayam and Sheeja George of Chettukuzhi in Idukki. Awards for agents and customers in various categories were also given away. The meeting, presided over by M.T. Jayan, chairman of the region, urged the State government to provide subsidy at the rate of Rs.3 a litre to the dairy farmers providing milk to the primary societies. Prof. John Kurakar
