78-year old woman overpowers robber
No robber would have imagined such a dare devil act from a 78-year-old old lady. Kunjeli, 78, from Kuzhimathikad, overpowered a youth who had tried to snatch her chain from a bike. Kunjeli got hold of the bike and though the youth dragged her for 50 meters, the robber was not able to flee from the scene. The freak incident occurred at 12 noon on Sunday, 19th, June, 2011, at Chekkalamukku.
When Kunjeli was returning home from a shop near her house after buying salt, a robber approached her on a bike under the pretext of enquiring about a route. Suddenly, he snatched her chain but Kunjeli grabbed the bike. Though he tried to push her away she did not lose her hold.
Though he tried to flee dragging her for about 50 meters, the bike overturned and natives rushed to the spot and held the accused Santhakumar from Mukathala. Kunjeli ventured into such a brave cinema-like stunt without losing her salt packet in her hand. Kunjeli whose knee was injured in the incident is now under treatment at a private hospital. She is the wife of late Thomas.
