AWARDS GIVEN TO BLOOD DONORS

Awards given to blood donors

     Revenue Divisional Officer, Vellore, C. Jayasree presented best blood donor awards at a programme organised in connection with the World Blood Donor's Day on Monday.The programme was organised by the Indian Red Cross Society, Katpadi sub branch. Ms. Jayasree presented the awards to a number of donors, including R. Chandrasekaran of Udhavum Ullangal, who has donated blood 43 times. She also handed over appreciation certificates to 25 students, who donated blood, a release said.

    Addressing the gathering, she stressed the importance of blood donation in saving people's lives. Students should realise the value of donating blood, she said.Headmaster of Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Katpadi, M. Anandanaidu, vice-president of Indian Red Cross Society, Vellore district branch, T.M. Vijayaragavalu and honorary secretary of Indian Red Cross Society, Katpadi sub branch, S.N. Janardhanan spoke.
