ATTACK ON WOMAN PROFESSIONAL,THASNI

(ASI suspended for inaction)

    The Thrikkakara ASI Mohan Thampi who failed to take timely action on his own in the case related to assault on a woman professional has been suspended pending enquiry.Mohan Thampi was suspended after DGP Jacob Punnoose asked the Kochi City Police Commissioner to take action against the erring officer.Thasni Bani a 30-year-old woman professional working in Cochin Special Economic Zone (CSEZ) was allegedly assaulted by an autoricksaw driver and his friends after she protested abusive comments made by them, police said Tuesday.

      Thasni Banu was in the news a few years ago for her bold stand against a fundamentalist outfit. Thasni who hails from Manjeri in Malappuram district is currently employed with a BPO as a document specialist.
