To offer diploma course
A national handloom technology institute, which provides an advance diploma course in handloom and textile technology, will be opened in Kannur district in Kerala in July. The Indian Institute of Handloom Technology (IIHT), coming up at Thottada in Kannur, is envisaged as a facility to provide technical advancement to the handloom and textile industry in the state. A joint initiative of Central and state governments and University of Kannur,the proposed IIHT will utilise the infrastructure of Institute of Handloom and Textile Technology functioning in the same district,a IIHT release said
