As many as 4, 18,979 students - a 91.37 passing percentage - qualified for higher studies out of the 4, 58,569 candidates that appeared for the SSLC examinations held in March last in the state. The 91.37 pass percentage was a slight improvement on the 90.78 per cent recorded last year, State Education Minister M A Baby told reporters here today. The minister said a total of 5,821 students got A+ grade, and it has been decided to give a merit certificate in the name of physicist C V Raman to those students. Kottayam district recorded the maximum pass percentage with 98.07 per cent while Thiruvananthapuram district ranked last with a pass percentage of 85.90 per cent. Admission process for the higher secondary courses would begin on May 4 and single window system would be adopted for admission, Baby said.
