                             DHONI TO JOIN TERRITORIAL ARMY

     Indian cricket captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni would soon become the latest high profile celebrity to get an honorary commission in the territorial Army. Chief of the Army staff General V.K Singh made the offer when Dhoni and Suresh Raina called on him it the Army House at New Delhi on Tuesday(6th April,2011) evening. Gen. Singh complimented Dhoni on the remarkable performance of the Indian team in winning the world cup and praised the quality of leadership of the young captain.
   Dhoni accepted the offer, stating that he was always keen to join the Army, has a number of friends in the service and interacted with a number of people serving in the Army, the sources said.
    Over the past few years, actor Mohanlal and former India cricket Captain Kapil Dev were granted honorary rank of Lieutenant colonel in the Territorial Army while the Indian Air Force accorded honorary rank of Group Captain to Sachin Tendulkar last year.
