MALANADA TEMPLE FESTIVAL-2011
(ONLY TEMPLE IN INDIA WITH DURYODHANAN AS THE PRESIDING DEITY)

The annual eight-day Malakkuda festival of the poruvazhi peruviruthi Malanada Temple will begin on March 18, 2011 with Surya pongala ritual at 5 am. The traditional Malakkuda Maha Sammelanam will be held at 4 p.m. The Malanada temple is reportedly the only temple in India with Duryodhanan as the presiding deity. The temple follows the Dravidian tradition of worship. The title deeds of the temple are in the name of Duryodhanan and the taxes are paid in his name.
This is also the temple where the biggest eduppu kettu kazhcha in the state is held. On the final day, the traditional swaranakodi darshanam will begin at 6 a.m. The Bhagawathy ezhunellathu will be at 3 p.m and the Malakkuda ezhunellathu with kettukazhcha at 4 p.m.Prof. John Kurakar
