          Dr Pereira is the first Consultant General Surgeon in the East of England to provide a full range of breast reconstruction operations.  He has been a national trainer for Consultants and Surgical Trainees on breast reconstruction operations for many years. Mr Pereira is also a teacher and trainer in the Department of Education. He is passionate about maintaining quality of outcomes after surgery and has been instrumental in developing and leading the National Mastectomy and Reconstruction Audit Programme. This is the first study in the world looking at surgical outcomes and patient views and satisfaction after major breast operations. Mr Pereira performs a wide range of other breast procedures like enlargements, reductions, liposuction and liposclupture. In addition he is a widely trained colorectal and general surgeon performing a full range of bowel operations and common general procedures like hernias and varicose veins.

                  Dr.  Pereira has been a Consultant Surgeon for the last 14 years.  Prior to coming to Norfolk he was Research Fellow at the Royal College of Surgeons of England. His post-graduate general surgical training was undertaken in various hospitals around the London region. His plastic surgical training was at Mount Vernon Hospital, Northwood, Queen Victoria Hospital, East Grinstead and the Emory Clinic in Atlanta, USA. He has a strong background in research and has published papers in the area of breast cancer, breast reconstruction, gynaecomastia, Paget's disease of the nipple and cancer awareness.
