TRIBUTE PAID TO DR BENJAMIN

Dr Benjamin pulimood
   The former  principal of the christian medical college,Vellore, Dr Benjamin pulimood (75) who passed away in Vellure on Saturday 5th February,2011, was a dedicated physician and great teacher.
     He passed out of the Trivandrum Medical College in 1957 and joined the christian Medical College, Vellore. He was a keen sports man who played as a goal keepter in the Santhosh Trophy representing the state. He was endowed with the 'healing touch' and became a successful physican and a revered teacher. He went to England and got MRCP in 1962 from Edinburgh and later FRCP in 1973.   He was a professor from 1969 to 1995. He was principal during 1981 to 1995. He was principal during 1981 to 1987 and was director from 1987 to 1994.
    "No patient had ever complained regarding Dr Benjamin's treatment" He was the president of the Indian society of Gastroenterology , and also served as the chairman of the Karigiri Hospital Governing Council. He represented the Marthoma church in the world council of churches at Nairobi and is the recipient of the Manava Seva award of the Marthoma church. He represented the state in the Santhosh Trophy tournament of 1956 and was also a member of the state team for the national hokey tournament in 1952  
     The funeral was held at Ernakulam Marthoma church cemetery on Wednesday 9th February,2011.He is survived by his wife Dr Ramani, a daughter and two sons. Kurakar Cultural Forum conducted  a condolence meeting at Kurakar Center, Kottarakara on 9th February,2011 at 5 pm. Prof John Kurakar presided  on the condolence meeting. Mr Bobby Kurakar, Mr Sam Kurakar were spoke on the occasion
