Panchalimedu is an important divine center. Ahalya who awaited the touch by the divine foot of Sri Ramachandran in Panchalimedu. Panchalimedu will dawn in our mind, like a historian, the genuine picture of tjhe virtuous pandavas disguised life along with sound of the bow string of the Kiridi, trumphet of the'Panchajanya',the whisting of Dharma and the roar of injustice which splits the ear,it is the genuine grief of this thickly neglected beauty that is heard in her sight us it may be the extreme rage  of an all pervading divine spirit.
The Panchalimedu, which is situated three kilometers away from Murinjapuzha in Kottayam Kumily route, in Peermade Taluk of Idukki District go that name and fame because it was here, that Pandavas lived and worshiped during their disguised life.
The 'Ashtamangalay Devprashan' which was performed in this place of sancitity says that this place was inhabited by people overs 3000 years ago and a great temple which was situated in Panchalimedu and constructed by the Pandavas was constructed by the Pandavas was constructed as a place of worship by the people of that period. The remains of this temple like the stone pillars, basalt flakes, the parts of idols and the temple pond which can be still seen in Panchalimedu testifies that once here existed a great temple.
Panchalimedu is a place of sanctity acts as a refuge for thousands of devotes of other lands also. This beauty along with the obscure and the imposing scenery is situated at a height of 3,500 feet. The temple pond built by the Pandavas is really a  rare and wonderful sight.
Just like the great height of Kailasa, the four sides and the eight dimensions. Competing with each other for natural beauty is not seen any where else except in the Panchalimedu. At the eastern side of this named Ponnambalamedu.
Where grows the divine light or the makara jyothi is the very speciality of this sacred the land. The eighteen steps and eighteen puranas which bows before the divine feet of Ayyappa, just like like the Karimala, Neelimala, Neelimala ete, ie the eighteen hills which guards and surrounds the ponnambala among which the Panchalimedu is the most prominent. This sacrament performed preeens that  the devptes who climb this hillock for the attainment of Koksha, to whom the the benediction is given by the divine spirit, which still exists here in the form of Bhuvaneswari devi whom whom the Pandavas also worshiped. The spirit includes that of the Divine motherr with blessing and punishements.
Sri Mahadeva the husband of Auma, Sri Krishna, Kaliyugzvarada Ayappa and Durga devi the vanguisher of the wicked for the protection of the devotes with kindness
This is the only place next to Mannarsala, where we can find with our naked eyes the Nagaraja,,able to worship the Nagas and also to perform the sacrament of Ayilapuja. There are many pilgrims whi testifies the fact that could see the Devi Deva spirit and the Nagadevatha.
this is considered as the center of Valliyamkavu Devi Temple which is one of the famous temples in Kerala. Here the devotes perform their sacraments by the Mandalakal vretha, prayers, Makarasamkrama Festival, Vishu Festival etc etc, with the Vishu Lalitha Sahasranama to the daily and are able to attain salvation
