e- waste management

   
The Kerala state pollution control Board (PCB) along with the state Information Technology Department is actively pursuing a proposal to set up an e- waste management facility in the state.
    The possibility of setting up such a facility under the public private partnership (PPP) model is being considered.Non governmental Organization in this field are also participating in the endeavor.
    In the first phase of the project,workshops on e-waste management would be held in Thiruvananthapuram, Ernakulam and Kozhicode in January,2011. At present, the state does not have any e-waste management facility. According to a notification of the Union government's Department of information Technology dated September this year, there were only 16 recognized e- waste re-processors across the country with environmentally sound management facilities.
