GUANGSHOU-2010
SPECTACULAR END TO 16thASIAN GAMES
It was a spectacular climax to the 16th Asian Games.Closing ceremony was on Saturday th November,.The torch tower and flame glowing in all its glory on the cauldron standing in front of the eight huge sil-bot television screens depicting the silent features of the  45 nations, the 610 metre Canton tower looking down majestically on one side, fire works lighting up the sky,the beautifully decorated and colourfully lit boats on sail on the river on one side, the city lit up nicely in the back ground. It was another spell binding performance with emphasis on dance and music.

It was a commendable effort by the strong Indian contingent of 626 athletes to come up with a decent performance of 64 medals including  14 gold to be ranked sixth in the Asian Games. Overall,it was a healthy improvement from the 5 medals won in the last edition for India.57 medals won in Delhi in 1982,when the team had won 13 gold medals.
India had won 15 gold medals in 5 in the inaugural edition that featured 489 athletes from 11 nations.
The Chinese won 199 gold medals ina total 6 won with a contingent of 960
