Poet Vishnunarayanan Namboodiri has won the prestigious Vayalar Literary Award for this year (2010) for his collection of poems” Charulatha.
Vishnunarayanan Namboodiri , whose each poem is an extension of his spiritual journey’s was chosen for the 34th Vayalar Award by a three- member jury comprising critics Prof. M. Thomas Mathew, and K.S Ravi Kumar and short story writer S.V Venugopan Nair. The award carries cash prize of Rs 25000, a statuette designed by sculptor Kanayi Kunhiraman and a citation.
The award would be presented to Vishunarayanan Namboodiri at a function to be held on October 27 to mark the death anniversary of Vayalar Ramavarma.
Charulatha’ was chosen from among 160 books published over the last three years proposed by around 150 select persons from within and outside Kerala.
