EQUAL PROPERTY RIGHTS FOR SYRIAN CHRISTIAN WOMEN

EQUAL PROPERTY RIGHTS FOR
SYRIAN CHRISTIAN WOMEN

More than 25 year after Mary Roy began her legal battle for equality in property rights for Syrian Christian Women with their male siblings of the family.
It has been 26 years since Mary Roy had started her fight for justice. Now (20thOctober, 2010) she is happy that her share of the property has finally come in to her hands.
It was 1986 that Mrs Mary Roy had obtained a land mark judgement from the supreme court entitling Syrian Christian Woman to an equal share in their fathers property. Till then, the Syrian Christian Community followed the provision of the Travancore Succession Act, and Cochin Succession Act.
