TRIBUTE PAID TO VENU NAGAVALLY
Noted Malayalam film maker and actor Venu Nagavally died on Thursday 9th September,2010. He was 61. Mr Venu,son of the late playwright and thepian Nagavally R.S Kurup, had donned significant roles in 35 films and wrote the screenplay of Kilukkom, directed by Priyadarsan,Artham and Gayathri Devi Ente Amma.
He is survived by his wife and a son. The body of Mr Nagavally was brought to his residence at Kowdiyar. People from different walks of life reached there to offer last respects.The body was then to VJT hall by 12.30 pm.
Mr Nagavally started his carrer as an announcer in the All India Radio and then moved on to films through Ulkkadal, directed by Sathyan Anthikkad.
Mr Nagavally made 12 films, including Lal Salaam, Kizhakkunarum pakshi, Sarvakalasala, Swagatham,Ayitham, Agni Devan and Rakthasakshikal Zindabad,Bharya swantham Suhruthu, released in 2009, was his last directorial venture. The body was cremated at Santhikavadom in the presence of a huge gathering of friends, relatives and fraternal medmbers in the evening.
Kerala Kavya Kala Sahithy arranged a condolence meeting at Kurakar Center. Prof.John Kurakar, President,K.K.K.S said his demise was irreparable loss to Malayalam cinema and he had successfully handled all the major areas of cinema.
