COCONUT BASED INDUSTRIES

          The coconut Development Board is in the process of finding entrepreneurs who are willing to participate in the technology mission launched by it. The board will provide financial assistance under the mission. The assistance will be available for setting up; modernizing or expanding coconut processing units and promoting value aided coconut based products.

          Under the mission,25 percent of the project cost, subject to a maximum of Rs 50 lakh, will be extended as subsidy to set up coconut processing units for production of value added products.

          Modernization and expansion of existing processing units will also be eligible for assistance. The project for seeking assistance for setting up a coconut processing unit should be submitted through the bank with a minimum of 40 percents of the project cost as term loan.

          The item which will be considered for assistance under the project include packed, branded coconut oil, Virgin coconut oil, desiccated coconut powder, coconut chips, defatted coconut powder, snowball tender coconut cream, activated carbon, coconut water based vinegar, shell charcoal, packed tender coconut water, minimally processed tender coconut,shellpowder,shell or wood based handicrafts and copra dryer.
