(KUMARAKOM CLUB WINS NEHRU ROPHY)

Kumarakom Town Boat club (KTBC) rowing the Jawahar Thayankary Snake-boat, regained the Nehru Trophy in the 58th Nehru Trophy Boat Race on 14th August,2010. The KTBC, which won the trophy four consecutive times since 2004, had lost it to the Jesus Boat club (JBC) went on to win the event in 2009 as well. However, this time round, the KTBC convincingly took the lead in the third heats of the event, puting an end to the hat-trick aspirations of JBC captain Gigy Jacob Pollayil, rowing the Karichal chundan. The KTBC boat was captained by Joseph philip.
Twelve-time winner united Boat club, Kainakary, rowing the Payipad chundan, came a few metres short to end up second, while the
Sree Ganesh chundan, rowed by the Karumadikuttan Boat club, Kavalam, finished third in the tightly contested final. The pattara chunden of the Kumarakom Boat club was fourth.
