INFLUENZA(HINI)-MAJOR THREAT TO HUMAN LIVES

INFLUENZA(HINI)-MAJOR THREAT TO HUMAN LIVES
HINI- is a major threat to human lives across the world in the second half of the current year. The infection in relation to pregnancy or the immediate post-partum period remained the major cause of mortality owing to unidentified reasons.
Dyspnoea and hypotension at presentation could be considered indication of mortality in the younger populations.
The higher risk during pregnancy should be applied to a two week post-partum period. There was limited data from the pandemic on the extent to which HIV infected patients were at a higher risk of complicated or severe illness, though there was some data from seasanal influenza indicatinga higher risk and limited data relating to mortality from the pandemic.
Early treatment with oseltamivir could effectively reduce morbidity, mortality and the viral load, helping in preventing the spread of infection in the community,Oscltamivir resistance had not been reported in any part of the country so far and it remained the drug of choice in patients with the infection.
