WORLD POPULATION DAY(JULY-11)
The population stabilisation was extremely important, given that India has a share of 17 percent of the world’s population, while it has to make do with a mere 2.5 percent of global land.
The central government would try to stabilise the population by making the people aware of the benefits of small families. Strict implementation of the laws governing the age of marriage and delayed first child with proper spacing may help in dealing with the populatioin problem. The craving for male child was another problem, but the spread of education, especially among girls, would help.
Population Education club of the St. Gregorios College, Kottarakara conducted an education Seminar at College Auditorium on 10th July,2010. Prof John Kurakar inaugurated the seminar. Prof K.C Raju,Principal presided over the function. Fr D.Jacob, Programme Co-ordinator and Simson John were spoke on the occasion.More than 250 graduate students participated.
