BILLION TREES FOR BILLION PEOPLE OF INDIA
WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY(5th JUNE,2010.
World Environment Seminar conducted by the joint auspices of the associations of “Friends of Trees and “ FANSA”Kerala chaptor. Dr Sainudeen Pattazhi inaugurated the Seminar. Mr Y .Rajan, president, Friends of trees’ presided. Dr V.R Prakasan, Dr P.J Mathew,Dr M.K.P Roy, Prof T.J Johnson,Dr Thomas Panicker, Prof. Alex Varghese, Mr Cheriyan P. Koshy were spoke.
Kerala Kavya Kala Sahithy also observed the world environment day on 5th June at Kurakar Town Center. KKKS president Prof. John Kurakar inaugurated the function. The president said that’ billion trees for billion people of India- It should be taken up youth. It would bring about a major change to the eco-systems of the world. Nations should work together to achieve this mission through youth movement.
All of us should prevent further damage to environment. We should learn lessons from the past, collaborative efforts, improvement and sustenance, political consensus, legislative action, scientific research, technological innovations, Societal Consciousness, Education and a pride in clean environment.
Individuals can contribute to this mission by creating awareness about environment protection. It can be keeping your house and neighbor hood clean, by ensuring water and energy conservation at homes, schools and work places, by spreading hygiene messages and by nurturing innovative ideas. Make Kerala greener and cleaner. Tree is the answer to global warming is the slogan of the Haritha Keralam Project.
