TECHNOCITY PROJECT
Kerala’s biggest IT project Technocity will be launched on 4th June,2010. The 450-acre facility will come up at pallippuram near Thiruvananthapuram. Technocity will be developed as an integrated town ship encompassing IT/ITES infracture, residential apartments, hotels, shopping malls, hospitals, educational institutionals and other support facilities.
Technocity is designed to address the socio-economic commitment like rural development, employment creation, earning of foreign exchange increasing tax collection etc. with an assured financial feasibilty. An investment of over Rs6000 crore is expected in the mega project which will be developed on public private partership (PPP) basis.
The project will be developed in a phased manner over a period of seven years of which the first major phase will be completed in a period of three years.
Technopark had applied for funding Rs 170 crore to the JapanInternational Co-operation Agency (JICA) for development of infrastructure of Technocity.
