MAOIST ATTACK CONDEMNABLE
The maoist attack in west Bengal, killing 79 innocent passengers of a Mumbai bond-bound express train. A goods train rammed 13 derailed coaches of the 2012 UP Howrah-Kurla Gyaneshwari Express between the Khenashuli Sardiha stations in West Bengal early in Friday,28th May,2010,killing 135 persons and injuring more than150 people. According to eye witness accounts, the accident occurred at around 1.3 0 am when most of the passengers were fast asleep. The centre had agreed to an inquiry by the CBI in to the disaster.
The driver of the passenger train has filed a first information report that says that he had heard the sound of an explosion before the derailment. The government suspected the involvement of the maoist in the tragic incident
It is clear that the maoist have started targeting civilians. They want to seize power at gunpoint. The government should use the Army to weed out the rebels from their forets hideouts. It should consider talks with them only after they give up violence. The train blast shows that the maoists are not interested in negotiating peace. The centree and the state goverrnment should do every thing they can to prevent such violence with out affecting individual liberty and press freedom.
It is unfortunate that, we the biggest democracy, are unable to handle the naxal meance in a democratic manner. The centre should take necessaary steps to root out maoism. The common manis at a loss to understand the centre’s lethargy in tackling the maoist menance that is regularly taking its toll on lives and property.
