Governor R.S Gavai awarded honorary doctorates to academician Prof. M.H Sarma( in absentia), actor Mohanlal and Oscar winner Resul pookutty at a special convocation of the Sree Sankarachariya University of Sanskrit held on the Kalady Campus on
Tuesday 16th March,2010. Mr Gavai said that' every branch of knowledge is enriched by Sanskrit'
Actor Mohanlal is hailed as an excellent performer the world over. He has an inborn flair for spontaneous acting. Mohanlal has essayed a rich variety of roles with equal ease and poise. Mr Gavai said in his acceptance speech Mr Mohanlal said he considered the degree a major honour. Mr pookutty said the country's tradition had always helped him redefine technology and his work. Mr M.G Mahadevan, Prof Sarma's son received the degree from the Governor.
