SCIENTIFIC INTERACTIONS
'Learn from the lives of great scientist, dream to be come like them and make the impossible possible. This was the message that went out to the delegates of children's science congress, held from the former president APJ Abdul Kalam.
Mr Abdul Kalam inaugurated the children's science Congress (ISC) at the kerala University's Kariavattom campus in Thiruvananthapuram on January4. He also interacted with the delegates after the inaugural function.
Mr Kalam said that science should be used for the betterment of society” you must dream to be like the great scientists. But drean alone is not sufficient. You must also acquire knowledge, work hard and have perseverance he said'
As many as 3500 students from across the country participated in the prestigious national event which included interactive sessions and lectures by eminent scientists at the three day event. Former president of Indian science congress Association Dr R Ramamurthi and former indian space Research Organization (ISRO) chairman G. Madhavan Nair were among those who led the sessions.
The interaction with Mr Madhavan Nair gave the students a greater insight in to the objective and achievement of the Chandrayan mission.
Winners of the national and state level science essay writing competitions also presented their award- winning papers at the children's science congress. A children's science exhibition organized on the sidelines of the CSC was another highlight of the events. Students from different parts of the country displayed and demonstrated their science projects at the exhibition.
The most enjoyable part of the event for delegates, however was the visit to Vikram Sarabhai space center (VSSC) and the space museum in Thiruvananthapuram. The CSC concluded with a valedictory function addressed by the director of Indian institute of space science and technology, B.N Suresh.
