Kerala University To Receive Grant of Rs 16.69 Crore from UGC

The University of Kerala is all set to get Rs 16.69 crore as 11th plan grant from University Grants Commission. An 11 member U.G.C team that toured the University in July,2008 has also recommended a ‘ jubilee grant’ of Rs 60 lakh during the 10th plan, the University received a mere Rs 3.6 crore as U.G.C assistance.
The University of Kerala has already received Rs 3.20 crore from the U.G.C under 11th plan. The rest Rs 13.49 crore, will be disbursed by the UG.C over the rest of the plan period. Kerala University had asked for Rs 52.56 crore as grant during the 11th plan.
University promised to set up a competency training centre, a sthree Jyothi project to ICT enable women and remedial coaching facilities for the backward sections of society. The university said it would set up a finishing School, strengthen university-industry interaction, redesign exiting programmes and commence new programmes. To ensure quality and excellence in higher education, the University would set up a curriculum development centre, introduce e-governance in its administration and develop e- content, the U.G.C team was told
