FACILITIES INADEQUATE IN SRI LANKAN CAMPS

FACILITIES INADEQUATE
IN SRILANKAN CAMPS
Doctors have written a letter to President Mahinda Rajapaksa complaining about inadequate facilities and shortage of medical staff in the Medical Camps in SrLanka. The Doctors say “ It is difficult to stay in these shelters. The doctors examine patients from 7 o’clock in the morning to 7 o’clock in the night. They need a proper place to sleep. There are no adequate nurse or staff members” The government has increased the number of camps to minimize the congestion. It was essential to have more medical officers. The government should appoint a high- level committee to manage the health are needs o the internally displaced persons living in those camps. The condition at the camps in vavuniya district is worse. Though service of 300 nurses were required for the camps. Only five to ten nurses had because deployed 5000 persons were found to be suffered from chicken pox, typhoid fever and other respiratory diseases.
