The submission of the liberhan Commission report is a step forward in the fight against communalism. The main task before the government is to punish those found guilty. We have to wait and see how many have been held responsible for the demolition of the Babrimasjid. That the mosque was demolished in broad day light with the whole world watching is well known.
In any civilized society, the deliberate vandalism wrought upon a centuries old monument like the Babri Masjid and its destruction would have merited exemplary punishment for all those involved in the frenzied attack and in the conspiracy that preceded it..
We hopes this report will not meet the same fate as the report of the P. JayanMohan Reddy Commission of inquiry which probed the 1969 Ahmedabad riots, and the Justice sri Krishna report which went in to the 1992 Mumbai riots.
