CEASFIRE IS ESSENTIAL IN SRI LANKA

We Welcommed the Sri Lankan government ceasefire announced in their country on sunday ,12 th April 2009, calling on the Tamil Tiger rebels to do like wise while insisting that civilians had to be free to leave the conflict zone. An estimated 1,oo,ooo people joined a Tamil protest in Londan calling a ceasefire. Sri Lanka's president Mahinda Raja paksa ordered a two- day halt to the offensive against cornered separatist Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam. Rebels to give tens of thousands of civilians a chace to escape the fighting. It will be essential to ensure international access to provide humanitarian relief, and journalistic access, given the scale of alleged abuses on bothsides
