Micro, Macro, and Mega meaning

 

The words Micro, Macro, and Mega are prefixes used to indicate size, scale, or extent.

Micro

Very small; relating to tiny things

Macro

Large; relating to the overall or broad view

Macroeconomics, Macro analysis

Mega

Very large; huge; one million times a unit in the metric system

Megacity, Megawatt

In Malayalam

  • Micro (മൈക്രോ)സൂക്ഷ്മമായത്, വളരെ ചെറിയത്
  • Macro (മാക്രോ)വിശാലമായത്, വലിയ തോതിലുള്ളത്
  • Mega (മെഗാ)അതിവലിയത്, ഭീമമായത്

Example

If you study a forest:

  • Micro level – a single leaf or insect.
  • Macro level – the entire forest ecosystem.
  • Mega level – all forests in a country or continent.

So, Micro = Small, Macro = Large/Broad, and Mega = Very Large/Huge.
