RETIRED COLLEGE TEACHERS FOR SPEEDING UP PENSION
REVISION MOVES
The Retired College
Teachers’ Association (RCTA) has urged the State government to expedite the
proceedings for the revision of pension of college teachers that was put on
hold for long without any logical excuse.“While State employees and Central
government employees in the rank of college teachers got the benefit of pay
revision, the same has been denied to college teachers for the last 12 years.
This amounts to discrimination among service pensioners,” said association
chairman K. Aravindan here on Tuesday.
In 2017, an order was
released by the Central Ministry concerned for the pension revision of teachers
under the University Grants Commission scheme, but the State government did not
take any action in this regard, association members said. Mr. Aravindan said
the last pension revision of college teachers in 2006 was implemented without
distributing the arrears for 3.5 years. Now it has been 12 years. The pay of
State pensioners was revised in 2009 and 2014, but college teachers were
excluded from it with an argument that there was no corresponding scale. We
request the State government to implement this much-deferred revision,” he
said. The last pension revision in 2006 was implemented without distributing the
arrears.
